FITLINGS

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026
Fitlings is made and operated by an individual developer based in Canada.

This policy explains exactly what information Fitlings collects, why, where it is kept, and how you can get rid of it. It is written to describe what the app actually does — nothing more.

The short version. Fitlings collects your email address and the fitness information you type in. It is stored on servers in Canada. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and there is no tracking or analytics of any kind. You can permanently delete everything from inside the app at any time.

1. What we collect

Fitlings only collects information you enter yourself. There is no automatic tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics.

InformationWhy it is needed
Email address To create your account, sign you in, confirm your email, and let you reset a forgotten password.
Password To secure your account. It is stored only in an encrypted (hashed) form — nobody, including the developer, can read your actual password.
Profile details
(display name, age, height, weight)
Used to calculate your Fitness Score and to show your name on leaderboards.
Workouts and steps
(dates, exercise type, duration, step counts)
The core purpose of the app — tracking your activity and growing your Fitling.
Group membership To show you in the leaderboards of groups you have joined.
Health app data — optional, app only
(daily step totals, workout type, duration and energy burned)
Only if you switch on the health connection in Settings. See section 1a.

Fitlings does not collect your location, your contacts or your photos.

1a. Apple Health and Health Connect

In the Fitlings app for iPhone and Android you may choose to connect your health app — Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. This is entirely optional and is off unless you turn it on in Settings, and you can turn it off again at any time. The website never reads health data at all.

If you turn it on, Fitlings reads only: Fitlings never reads your heart rate, sleep, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, oxygen saturation, menstrual or reproductive health data, medical records, or the location of any workout — even where your health app holds them and even where the system would allow it.

Fitlings reads daily and per‑workout totals, not the underlying second‑by‑second samples your phone records.

Health data that Fitlings imports is treated exactly like an entry you typed yourself: it is saved to your account so your Fitness Score works across your devices and so your score can appear on leaderboards you have joined. What other people see is described in section 2 — it is your score, never your raw health data.

We never use health data for advertising or marketing, sell it, share it with data brokers, or use it for any purpose other than working out your Fitness Score inside Fitlings. Health data is not used for any form of profiling or automated decision‑making beyond calculating that score.

Turning the connection off stops any further reading immediately. Steps and workouts already imported remain in your activity log, exactly as manually entered ones would; you can delete individual entries in the app, or delete your whole account (section 4) to remove everything.

1b. Notifications

If you choose to receive reminders, Fitlings schedules them on your device. No notification service, and no server of ours, is told what your reminders say or when they fire. Choosing “None” stops them entirely, and your phone’s own settings can block them regardless of what you choose here.

2. What other people can see

Fitlings has leaderboards, so some information is deliberately visible to others.

Visible to other members of any group you join (including the World Leaderboard): your display name, your Fitness Score, your Fitling's character and level.

Never visible to anyone else: your email address, your password, your age, your height, and your weight.

If you do not want to appear on the World Leaderboard, you can leave it from the Groups tab, or choose a display name that does not identify you.

3. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored using two service providers:

These providers process data on our behalf so the app can function. Your information is not sold, rented, or traded to anyone, and it is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Deleting your data

You can delete individual entries at any time without deleting your account. Open the Log tab, tap a workout or a day's steps, and choose delete. The entry is removed immediately and your scores recalculate.

To delete your account and everything in it, from inside Fitlings:

  1. Open Fitlings and sign in
  2. Tap the settings gear in the top‑right corner
  3. Choose Delete my account
  4. Type DELETE to confirm

This is immediate and permanent. It erases your profile, your workouts and steps, your challenge entries, your unlocked characters and backdrops, your group memberships and your login. You are removed from every group and leaderboard, including the World Leaderboard. Nothing is retained afterwards and it cannot be undone.

If you cannot access the app for any reason, email fitlingsapp@gmail.com from the address on your account and it will be deleted for you within 30 days.

5. How long data is kept

Your information is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, workouts, steps and login are removed from the database. Routine encrypted backups held by our hosting providers may retain copies for a short period before being overwritten in the normal course of operation.

6. Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), and comparable laws elsewhere, you have the right to:

To make any of these requests, email fitlingsapp@gmail.com. Requests are answered within 30 days.

7. Children

Fitlings is not intended for children under 13, and accounts should not be created by them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email fitlingsapp@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

8. Security

Accounts are protected by a password, which is stored only in hashed form. Data is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and database rules restrict each account so it can only read and write its own data. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but your information is not shared beyond what is described above.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change with it. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
